ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – As we settle into 2021, many hit area gyms to kick start their New Year’s resolution of health and fitness. A popular one officials say they see every year.
“It’s good not only physically, but mental and I think that’s what people were lacking when they were locked down when the gyms were closed they didn’t have that mental place to get rid of their stress,” said Peak Fitness Owner Mark Banz.
Banz says his gym offers ample space for people to keep a safe distance from others.
“We have a lot of volume, space, sanitizer, cleaning products, and there’s a lot of cleaning going on which makes it good for the members,” said Banz.
Not only are gyms in high demand at the start of the year, but so are personal trainers as people seek more custom workouts.
“Most people get their resolutions at the beginning of the year, they get into the gyms, they try to do it on their own and realize they really don’t know what they are doing,” said QuickHIT Personal Trainer Nick Peters.
Banz predicts once the COVID pandemic is under control more people will head back to the gym.
“I think the gyms will ramp back up similar to prior years,” said Banz.
